Our people

Professionalising Guernsey politics is a crucial element in making our system more effective and accountable. That's why Future Guernsey has been founded as not-for-profit, overseen by a board with relevant experience in establishing and managing successful organisations.

John Hardie

Chairman

John’s 40-year career in media and marketing has brought him extensive experience in leading and evolving established organisations. After a career in brand management at Procter and Gamble, he led Disney’s European television network before joining ITN as Chief Executive and transforming the company's finances and launching ITN Productions. A long-time visitor to Guernsey, the quality of life and standard of education led him to settle on the island in 2019 with his family.

Robert Shepherd

Board Member

Rob is a highly experienced legal professional and consultant. He began his legal career at Clifford Chance in London in 1991, later joining Mourant Ozannes where he served as Managing and then Senior Partner. Since 2020, he has been a consultant, offering business coaching and fiduciary services. Rob brings his legal skills and expertise to his role as Secretary of the Board and is keen to see the professionalisation of Guernsey politics.

Jane St Pier

Board Member

Jane has extensive experience in delivering vital services to our island's community. A chartered accountant, Jane is currently a Non-Executive Director of Guernsey Post and Chair of the island's first homelessness charity, At Home in Guernsey. Jane has previously chaired both the Youth Commission for Guernsey and Alderney, and Convenor and Tribunal Board, giving her a deep and innate understanding of the issues faced by families in the Bailiwick.

Mike Leonard

Board Member

Mike is the co-founder and now Chairman of First Central Group Limited, a major player in the UK motor insurance market. The Guernsey-headquartered company quickly gained success by launching its first underwriting brand, and has since expanded its operations, focusing on innovation and customer-centric solutions. Having raised his family locally and built successful business in Guernsey, Mike brings both business acumen and a passion for the island to the Board of Future Guernsey.

What our supporters are saying

Alongside our core team are a band of dedicated and knowledgeable local experts drawn from the fields of finance, education, housing, healthcare, project delivery, public service and climate transition. These locally-based, outstanding minds have all pledged to offer their time, experience and ideas to our individual Policy Working Groups. Separately and together, these groups will help us to create a well-rounded, well-informed and researched manifesto that is – vitally – realistic and deliverable.
