Less than a third (28%) of the islanders we spoke with in the summer of 2024 felt they could trust their politicians. That’s frankly not good enough.
Our manifesto gives our States Assembly a framework of well-researched, clearly thought-out policy that the electorate can get behind.
We cannot afford another wasted term of government rehashing the same old arguments. The time for change is now.
We listened to islanders via an intensive programme of research, and what we discovered concerned us.
Just one in ten (13%) felt the political system worked. Three quarters (75%) of the people we spoke to said they want the States to govern based on policy, rather than personality.
Islanders also told us about their priorities, and we addressed these by collaborating with the community to create a suite of policies which shape a future direction for Guernsey.
In recent times, Guernsey’s States Assembly has been characterised by incoherent, dysfunctional, and unaccountable governments that struggle to deliver the most basic of policies.
We know we can do better. But we can’t do better without unity, optimism and a fundamental change towards enduring, policy-led government.
No more U-turns, no more can-kicking. We have proposed a set of policies that can unite Guernsey in the long-term and deliver our vision of an island that is a welcoming, optimistic place with widespread prosperity.
